Job Description

Mighty House Construction is a very busy, sustainable home remodeling company. Our office is run by a husband-wife team and full-time office guru, 4 full-time staff rule the field with 1-3 occasional temps, and a friendly canine provides morale support (or trip hazard - you be the judge) in the office. It is a small and full office attached to the garage on our home's property in West Seattle (bus #21).


This position is 20-25 hours per week and is to begin ASAP.

Bookkeeping (65%)
• Expense Tracking, Accounts Payable & Receivable, Account Reconciliation
• We run 3-6 jobs at one time. All finances are run through Quickbooks 2016 on a Mac
• All expenses are tracked to the client:job and classed per task.
• There are about 5 accounts to reconcile on a weekly basis (monthly at minimum)
• Tracking company credit card usage (for owners and 3-4 employees)
• Checking emails, shared to-do lists, and project management software on a daily basis
• Invoice clients in accordance with project contract, and track payments
• Run Job/Project Cost Reports on a weekly basis
• File hardcopies of all financials
• Checking emails, shared to-do lists, and project management software on a daily basis

Project Administration (20%)
• Translate handwritten project estimates and enter into Excel 
• Assist in setting initial job schedules, and updating schedules online as needed
• Assist in acquiring bids and estimates from subcontractors
• Manage contract process and job documentation (collecting signatures, 
• Manage, track, and enter change orders

Office Management (15%)
• Schedule and organize meetings
• Enter and update contact information for customers, subcontractors, etc. in online database
• Order/purchase office supplies as needed (online and in-person)

Required Qualifications
⁃ 3-5 years of full time (or equivalent) experience in bookkeeping 
⁃ Highly skilled in Quickbooks and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
⁃ A methodical thinker, with an extremely high level of accuracy and attention to detail
⁃ Is curious, asks questions and is able to collect and synthesize data from multiple sources 
⁃ An effective problem solver - able to maintain clear, consistent systems and devise new ones where necessary
⁃ Possesses superior oral and written communication skills
⁃ Works well in collaboration with others, but can also work independently to accomplish goals
⁃ Familiarity with online customer tracking databases 
⁃ Experienced and comfortable working in a Macintosh environment
⁃ Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.

Preferred, but not required:
• Knowledge of the construction industry and sustainability 
• Ability to complete monthly, quarterly taxes, DOR, W-2s, and 1099s
• Ability to oversee Payroll Processing (using intuit online and time tracking app to upload staff hours into Quickbooks)
